Loved your books. I ordered them from Robinsons in Frankston and had no problems at all. Farrells in Mornington had them on display too. Wish I could have made one of your Melbourne visits. Never mind, keep on writing. - Maureen Skilton, Melbourne Read Ooh La La! (almost in one sitting) & just couldn’t put it down & thoroughly enjoyed every minute. I’m not a great traveller (have been on holiday to NZ, Have had an orgy of Ann Rickard since dinner at Berados. Have read both So I have progressed further through the book and I firmly believe that there is a dangerous reality that I may not be able to come into work until I have finished it. I cant put it down!!! I could have had an early night last night, but though… oh I will just read a few pages… I read like two chapters!!! And unlike most books, I am reading it really slowly because I want to savor it. It has the most wonderful mix of comical stories, delicious descriptions of the food, wonderful word paintings of the sights and sounds and all mixed in with a really useful travel guide. Next time you go you simply MUST take me!!!! Sunshine Coast Newspaper Company
Our group of friends all came from the far ends of Victoria to meet at your book launch, kindly organised by another friend (Wendy Lewis) who lives in Black Mountain (not far from Noosa) Wendy is an aficionado of your column and your books and she was absolutely thrilled to have your personally signed copy with “thanks for sending her friends to the launch”. - Athalie - Victoria. Dear Amanda....Ohmygod! rushed out and bought Ooh La La! on Saturday and had finished it by Sunday (in between drinks). What a fabulous story! Ann did a tremendous job of making the story into a wonderfully hedonistic, exotic, erotic, naughty (that’s you!!) and luxurious, to die for experience. ’’ - Anna - Perth Ann, congratulations and loud applause for such an entertaining ‘presentation’ ……so enjoyed the launch (of Ooh La La! in Noosa.) . But now think you and Amanda need a fix on a camera crew – and produce an Amanda’n Ann series – give Kath & Kim a nudge …. Could work brilliantly – all the ingredients – food, wine, humour, risqué – a magnet for success!!!! I wish you great success with this book (or books) …..and sincerely hope they reach bestseller status, Kind Regards Sue Trethowan-Jones.- Melbourne/Noosa
I just so love your travel books, and share your sense of humour. I am approaching retirement, and hope to do more writing on retirement, whether it be about our life here in the Top End, or travels farther afield. I desperately need a mentor, and someone to guide me in this field - and so hope you can help me. Jb - Northern Territory
Must say it was a thrill to finally meet you in Melbourne, after enjoying ALL your books. I would love to oin one of your Provencal trips and paint you all having outrageous fun. I am halfway through "A French Romp" at the moment, reading SLOWLY so that I can sour every minute. LOVED the tales of your French Romp, keep thinking about joining you with my hubby, who,s a lot of fun, next year, I feel I know you, so sending love, Marie Warnecke, Melbourne
I have just read the last page of your book (Ooh La La!) and now I’m sad that it’s finished. It took me this long to finish as I would read a few pages or chapters then shut my eyes and imagine I was there . I didn’t want the experience to end. Great book. Lesley Croft, Perth.
Hello, I just have to tell you how much I LOVED this book. I read it a few weeks ago while on holiday in Rhodes. Being English, but living in Norway, I could SO relate to your descriptions of Norwegians singing morose songs that no-one else would be seen dead singing. And the people singing the Happy Birthday song were Danes - the "roar" sound at the end of the song is Hurra Hurra Hurra! Which always sounds like "Whoaaargh! Whoaaaargh! Whoaaargh!" to me. I laughed so loud at times that I had to smile apologetically to the people sitting nearby. I didn’t skim-read any of your book, just really enjoyed the whole journey. I’m definitely going to track down your Italian one and also "Ooh la la..." when it comes out. In the meantime, I’m going to reread "Not Another Greek Salad"....once I can get it off my husband. THANKS!! Best regards, Sophy Steine - Norway Have just finished your book ’Not another Greek Salad ’and just wanted to tell you I throughly enjoyed it. Last year my family and I spent some time on Sifnos, and had a lovely relaxing holiday exploring the many beaches. I’ll be looking out for your books in the future ,well done your are very clever .Kindest regards. Nicola Damm . NZ
I have just read (08/07) your latest letter. Your letters/books appeal to me beacuse of the easy/laid back structure. In your American book and "Not another Greek salad" it would have been really helpful to see some photos.Y ou know the word-picture mind set imagines from previous sights. cBut in your latest letter because I have canoed down the Gard river I can visualise your experience. If you do go ahead next year with a trip or two no doubt you will say so in a letter. While my wife and I are well travelled we are always looking for different adventures we can manage. As you are fully aware you have a way with words. I look forward to more letters and books. Best wishes Trevor Bringans
I have just read ’Not another Greek salad’ and loved it. I intend going > to bed in the next half-hour to start ’The last book about Italy’ which I am certain will not disappoint. Your entertaining yet informative style of writing brought Greece to life (even though I have not been there yet!) and I devoured it - figuratively speaking. Keep writing, now I have discovered you I want to read more. Cheers and thanks from across the ditch Rosemary Saunders - Auckland NZ
1st Book Italy - Just finished reading your Not another Book about Italy book. I still Trish and Trevor Watson
Your Books - You have given me & my friend Anna so much pleasure with your books and your newsletter. My friend Anna’s husband has been very sick for many many years, and your books let her dream of being in Italy and travelling with you...... I also enjoyed the books very much too. Anna’s husband has unfortunately passedaway recently, and I am so pleased to be able to print out your newsletters and take to her, which makes her day (she is in her 70’s), so I want to say a big thank you for helping her get through (even though you didn’t know it). So, your books, humour & general sense of fun of life (& food) reach further than you think, and make sad people happy. Thanks again. Keep writing.
Chris Thomas.
’Not Another Greek Salad’ I can honestly say I am enjoyied it immensely. I don’t remember when I have laughed so much, Honestly. It’s such a happy book. I’m giggling away writing this. Hi Ann, I just wanted to thank you for cheering me up after a terrible couple of weeks when nothing went well for our family. So pleased your daughters wedding(s) went off so well, but, hey, as an avid traveller I think you really must let us all in on the secret of where you stayed in Phuket (and the fantastic bottleshop). Just love your books, can’t get enough of them, and look forward to your newsletters in the interim! Ruth
Loving your book on the Greek islands, I am of Greek decent, born here, but dad came out in1927, have been to Greece many times over the years and your words ring true. It indeed is a great place and I laugh out loud at times at your comments (much to my wifes cocern) thanks for putting into words what a great place Greece is. Terry Anderson, Ballina,NSW.

You have given me & my friend Anna (actual name Mariana - Italian you know), so much pleasure with your books and your newsletter. Anna’s husband has unfortunately passed away recently, and I am so pleased to be able to print out your newsletters and take to her, which makes her day, so I want to say a big thank you for helping her get through (even though you didn’t know it) So, your books, humour & general sense of fun of life (& food) reach further than you think, and make sad people happy. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your book "Not Another Greek Salad". I found it very funny and like your first book brought back a lot of fond memories. I really enjoyed your slideshow, partiaularly the photograph of the octopus, I nearly walked into a line of them in Mykonos, of which I had forgotten until I saw your picture. Looking forward to your next book. Linda
"Not Another Greek Salid." So funny and I must empathise with so much of what you wrote and thought. Sometimes you read a book and have absolutely nothing in common with the author. In fact your book I completely concur with. I’m just the same. Keep up the good work. Krystal Kouvaras
Not Another book About Italy. Just read your book. Enjoyed it so much can’t wait for your next book. My hubby & I travelled to Italy 1999, first o/seas trip, spent three weeks. Just absolutely fell in love with the place. We walked the Cinque Terre, which I feel is the only way to do it, to really get the feel. But I got so many laughs from your book, I was physically laughing out loud and often couldn’t stop myself. Jill Dale
