Many thanks,  Ann.

Loved your books.  I ordered them from Robinsons in Frankston and had no problems at all.  Farrells in Mornington had them on display too.  Wish I could have made one of your Melbourne visits.  Never mind, keep on writing.  - Maureen Skilton, Melbourne

Read Ooh La La! (almost in one sitting) & just couldn’t put it down & thoroughly enjoyed every minute.  I’m not a great traveller (have been on holiday to NZ, Singapore & Japan but that’s it) but reading your amusing books takes me to places that I have always wanted to visit so thank you for that. - Elaine, Melbourne

Have had an orgy of Ann Rickard since dinner at Berados.  Have read both
books even though got them for my sister for Christmas.  Now have to try and hide smears of chocolate, jam and wine on them! Absolutely loved them
both - you are a huge talent and a gem.  Only criticism - you are not
writing fast enough for my voracious appetite - Glynis, Noosa

Well done..... it has to be another award coming up.
I had a lot of laughs reading THE book...I could hear your voice telling all the funny stories. You have a wonderful talent thankyou for sharing it with us all.  - Hester Bullen, France

So I have progressed further through the book and I firmly believe that there is a dangerous reality that I may not be able to come into work until I have finished it. I cant put it down!!! I could have had an early night last night, but though… oh I will just read a few pages… I read like two chapters!!! And unlike most books, I am reading it really slowly because I want to savor it. It has the most wonderful mix of comical stories, delicious descriptions of the food, wonderful word paintings of the sights and sounds and all mixed in with a really useful travel guide. Next time you go you simply MUST take me!!!!

Last night I finished reading your book ’Not another Greek Salad’.  Iabsolutely loved it.  I do so enjoy a book that you get a good giggle out of.  Will now go out of my way to search out your other books.
Keep it up, and cheers, Cindy

Hi,your new book is fabulous. Lisa and I (Lisa aswell)  were at the book launch at Georges restaurant in Camberwell invited by Lisa from Leader.(what a lot of Lisa’s) We were wondering if you have considered doing a recipe/food/photos book of your travels that would be fabulous. We were so impressed by your stories and zest for life. Keep up the great work from Lisa L and Lisa W. - Melbourne

Our group of friends all came from the far ends of Victoria to meet at your book launch, kindly organised by another friend (Wendy Lewis) who lives in Black Mountain (not far from Noosa)   Wendy is an aficionado of your column and your books and she was absolutely thrilled to have your personally signed copy with “thanks for sending her friends to the launch”. - Athalie - Victoria.

Dear Amanda....Ohmygod! rushed out and bought Ooh La La! on Saturday and had finished it by Sunday (in between drinks). What a fabulous story! Ann did a tremendous job of making the story into a wonderfully hedonistic, exotic, erotic, naughty (that’s you!!) and luxurious, to die for experience. ’’ -  Anna - Perth

Ann, congratulations and loud applause for such an entertaining ‘presentation’ ……so enjoyed the launch (of Ooh La La! in Noosa.) . But now think you and Amanda need a fix on a camera crew – and produce an Amanda’n Ann series – give Kath & Kim a nudge …. Could work brilliantly – all the ingredients – food, wine, humour, risqué – a magnet for success!!!!  I wish you great success with this book (or books) …..and sincerely hope they reach bestseller status, Kind Regards Sue Trethowan-Jones.- Melbourne/Noosa

I just so love your travel books, and share your sense of humour.  I am approaching retirement, and hope to do more writing on retirement, whether it be about our life here in the Top End, or travels farther afield.  I desperately need a mentor, and someone to guide me in this field - and so hope you can help me.   Jb  - Northern Territory

Must say it was a thrill to finally meet you in Melbourne, after enjoying ALL your books.   I would love to oin one of your Provencal trips and paint you all having outrageous fun.   I am halfway through "A French Romp" at the moment, reading SLOWLY so that I can sour every minute.   LOVED the tales of your French Romp, keep thinking about joining you with my hubby, who,s a lot of fun, next year, I feel I know you, so sending love,   Marie Warnecke, Melbourne

Thank you once again for an insight into places I have only ever visited in my dreams, have read all your previous books and just started the new one (Ooh La La!).  Great stuff.
As a woman of a certain age with too many kids/grandkids and a mortgage it is wonderful to escape with you for a short time each day.
Please keep travelling and writing its such wonderful fantasy you are painting for me...........one day I may turn it into reallity. Thank you  -  Janne

I have just read the last page of your book (Ooh La La!)  and now I’m sad that it’s finished. It took me this long to finish as I would read a few pages or chapters then shut my eyes and imagine I was there . I didn’t want the experience to end. Great book.  Lesley Croft, Perth.

Hello, I just have to tell you how much I LOVED this book. I read it a few weeks  ago while on holiday in Rhodes. Being English, but living in Norway, I  could SO relate to your descriptions of Norwegians singing morose songs that no-one else would be seen dead singing. And the people singing the Happy Birthday song were Danes - the "roar" sound at the end of the song is Hurra Hurra Hurra! Which always sounds like "Whoaaargh! Whoaaaargh! Whoaaargh!" to me. I laughed so loud at times that I had to smile apologetically to the people sitting nearby.  I didn’t skim-read any of your book, just really enjoyed the whole journey. I’m definitely going to track down your Italian one and also "Ooh la la..." when it comes out. In the meantime, I’m going to reread "Not Another Greek Salad"....once I can get it off my husband. THANKS!! Best regards,

Sophy Steine - Norway

Have just finished your book ’Not another Greek Salad ’and just wanted to tell you I throughly enjoyed it. Last year my family and I spent some time on Sifnos, and had a lovely relaxing holiday exploring the many beaches. I’ll be looking out for your books in the future ,well done your are very clever .Kindest regards.

Nicola Damm . NZ

I have just read (08/07) your latest letter. Your letters/books appeal to me beacuse of the easy/laid back structure. In your American book and "Not another Greek salad" it would have been really helpful to see some photos.Y ou know the word-picture mind set imagines from previous sights. cBut in your latest letter because I have canoed down the Gard river I can visualise your experience. If you do go ahead next year with a trip or two no doubt you will say so in a letter.  While my wife and I are well travelled we are always looking for different adventures we can manage. As you are fully aware you have a way with words. I look forward to more letters and books.  Best wishes

Trevor Bringans

I have just read ’Not another Greek salad’ and loved it. I intend going > to bed in the next half-hour to start ’The last book about Italy’ which  I am certain will not disappoint. Your entertaining yet informative style  of writing brought Greece to life (even though I have not been there yet!) and I devoured it - figuratively speaking.  Keep writing, now I have discovered you I want to read more. Cheers and thanks from across the ditch

Rosemary Saunders -  Auckland NZ

1st Book  Italy - Just finished reading your Not another Book about Italy book.  I still
have a pain from laughing.  My husband is obsessed with Italy, bit like you guys, he does the Italian lessons, he can now get us around on trains, buses and automobiles and then some. We decided that we don’t have to write our book now, we can
change the names to Trev and Trish and it would be a duplicate story of us.  Well,
that was until you got to the airport to come home, geez how lucky was that. Thanks for the great read.  It brought back so many memories. We have been
2004,2006 and 2007 and Trev wants to go back to Montaciano (too tired to look up the spelling) at the end of this year for Italian school for a couple of months. A few years ago we became friends with young backpackers in Caloundra, we live at Dicky Beach. We showed them our beautiful part of the world - hinterland and Fraser Island and their family did the same for us when we visited them in Italy. They live up in beautiful Lake Maggiore.  They also have black hookers along the road on the way to Monta Rosa.   Love Italy’ but think I love home most of all.   Cheers

Trish and Trevor Watson

Not another book about Italy  - Thank you for making me laugh as I reminisced about my glorious month in Italy last October.   I am now  going to find
your photos from your Italian trip. Thanks again for putting it all into
words! Well done!

Your Books - You have given me & my friend Anna so much pleasure with your books and your newsletter.  My friend Anna’s husband has been very sick for many many years, and your books let her dream of being in Italy and travelling with you......  I also enjoyed the books very much too.  Anna’s husband has unfortunately passedaway recently, and I am so pleased to be able to print out your newsletters and take to her, which makes her day (she is in her 70’s),  so I want to say a big thank you for helping her get through (even though you didn’t know it). So, your books, humour & general sense of fun of life (& food)  reach further than you think, and make sad people happy. Thanks again.  Keep writing.

Chris Thomas.

’Not Another Greek Salad’ I can honestly say I am enjoyied it immensely.  I don’t remember when I have laughed so much, Honestly.  It’s such a happy book. I’m giggling away writing this. I love the way you ’say it as it is’.  You make it so easy to actually be there with you,  Anyway your book from beginning to end has been such a tonic for me, such a pleasure reading. We don’t laugh enough these days. Thanks for your humour and writing my kind of book, the kind you just can’t put down. I’m loved it.

Hi Ann, I just wanted to thank you for cheering me up after a terrible couple of weeks when nothing went well for our family. So pleased your daughters wedding(s) went off so well, but, hey, as an avid traveller I think you really must let us all in on the secret of where you stayed in Phuket (and the fantastic bottleshop). Just love your books, can’t get enough of them, and look forward to your newsletters in the interim!

Ruth

Loving your book on the Greek islands, I am of Greek decent, born here, but dad came out in1927, have been to Greece many times over the years and your words ring true. It indeed is a great place and I laugh out loud at times at your comments (much to my wifes cocern) thanks for putting into words what a great place Greece is.

Terry Anderson, Ballina,NSW.

You are a danger to ordinary folk. First you inspire me to visit Italy (Valentine Walking tour etc) now you seduce readers with story of Jessica’s wedding and accompanying gorgeousness. I just love the descriptions.  Thankyou so much and I will suggest same to others.  Its great.

Nola Lane

You have given me & my friend Anna (actual name Mariana - Italian you know), so much pleasure with your books and your newsletter. Anna’s husband has unfortunately passed away recently, and I am so pleased to be able to print out your newsletters and take to her, which makes her day, so I want to say a big thank you for helping her get through (even though you didn’t know it) So, your books, humour & general sense of fun of life (& food)  reach further than you think, and make sad people happy. Thanks again. Keep writing.

Just finished reading your first book and found it highly entertaining. As a lover of Italy myself, and I don’t get there often enough, it brought my own memories alive again. Your writing invites the reader alongside, so I really felt I was making the journey with you and Geoffrey.
and can’t wait to read ’The Last Book about Italy’.
Thanks again for a good read.

I am devastated at reaching the last page of  ’’The Last Book about  Italy". It was just the best, and I have made frequent  underlinings and notes for use on a trip we will have in Italy during our winter. What a wonderful fun journey,  it is a laugh on every page . Can’t wait for July for the release of the American Saga ! Thank you for the delight you give us, for your talent allows us to  feel we are there with you.  Continue this wonderful  creative adventure,  you give joy to thousands of gratified readers.

Just finished reading "The Last Book about Italy". Such an easy and informative read. I wish I had looked at your website earlier, then I could have looked at the photos while I read the book. So pleased that not all tourists eat fabulous meals all of the time

I’ve just finished reading your second book " Not Another Greek Salad" and wanted to let you know how much I’ve enjoyed both your books. As someone who has done limited overseas travel but hopes and plans to do a lot in the near future, your books have been a refreshing and inspiring read. It’s lovely to read about someone who focuses on the positive, enjoys the experience and makes the reader feel similarly inspired! Thanks for such a fun and enjoyable reading experience. I look forward to your third book sometime this year.

Having just read both of your books,"Not Another Book About Italy" and "Not Another Greek Salad", thank you for the many laughs you have given me. Both books are wonderfully funny.

I discovered your books at Christmas and just wanted you to know that I thoroughly enjoyed both. I could really relate to many of your travel experiences. Thanks for the read.

Lena Fraser.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your book "Not Another Greek Salad". I found it very funny and like your first book brought back a lot of fond memories. I really enjoyed your slideshow, partiaularly the photograph of the octopus, I nearly walked into a line of them in Mykonos, of which I had forgotten until I saw your picture.

Looking forward to your next book.

Linda

"Not Another Greek Salid."  So funny and I must empathise with so much of what you wrote and thought. Sometimes you read a book and have absolutely nothing in common with the author. In fact your book I completely concur with. I’m just the same.   Keep up the good work.

Krystal Kouvaras

Not Another book About Italy.    Just read your book.  Enjoyed it so much can’t wait for your next book. My hubby & I travelled to Italy 1999, first o/seas trip, spent three weeks. Just absolutely fell in love with the place. We walked the Cinque Terre, which I feel is the only way to do it, to really get the feel. But I got so many laughs from your book, I was physically laughing out loud and often couldn’t stop myself.

Jill Dale

Greece/Italy Books    Great reading! - Spent Honeymoon last year in Tuscany.  We also don’t like sharing a balcony! Introduced new husband to Greece last year  and going back this year to Paros - We also don’t do our research and end up walking without sunscreen, appropriate shoes, and no water! - look forward to the next book.

You and your book are as beautiful as the track from Corniglia to Vernazza. I wept with the joy of the dozens of memories of these exquisite places - served up on colourful plattersin the pages of your wonderful book. -

Peter Gillies.

Firstly my wife Maria and I wish to congratulate you on your excellent book ’Not another book about Italy’. To say that we really enjoyed reading your book, is a HUGE understatement, it was Meraviglioso. Our only adverse comment is that you were too lenient (I say lenient for lack of better word in mind at this time), we can say this being Italian ourselves.

Lorenzo Colalillo.   WA

What a lively entertaining romp through Italy - brought back heartwarming memories of my Italian trip and inspired me to go again.

Adele Clarke  WA

Just wanted to say how much I loved your book.  I went to Italy in 2002 and your book bought back so many wonderful memories that I could relate to.  A great read and a great laugh!

I am almost at the end of your book and finally couldn’t wait till then to sneak a look at your web site - I am so glad I did.  Learning that your new book will be out in a few months time was great news.  I look forward to the next enjoyable? holiday.

I must admit, it was the catchy title of your book that made me buy it. As I delved between the pages I felt I was along there with you on your journey.  I have enjoyed your writing style and just love the informality - but best of all, to me, is your wicked sense of humour.

Meg Knox   WA

Fantastic ......  do not read this book if you are already yearning to return to Italy. Your life stops, and everything is about how you are going to get there next.... I felt like I was there.

P.S. GEOFFREY IS SO COOL

Margarita

I’ve just finished reading your first book & thoroughly enjoyed it -so refreshing!  Reading about the experiences you & Geoffrey had in Italy made me feel as if I were there -well done! I’m looking forward to your next book(s).

After reading Not Another Greek Salad, I had to drop you a line to say how much I enjoyed the book. I picked up the book on inpulse at my local book store, the cover got my attention, I started reading it and found myself laughing out loud, just the tonic I needed. As a direct result of your book my partner and I are off to Greece in July 2005.    Look forward to your next book.

John Blanch

I absolutely loved your book. It totally captured the spirit of Greece and its people. Your classic line "one of those typical  Greek arguments/conversations/discussions" made me laugh for days. My husband has been trying to work out for years if my family (Greek Australians) talk or argue when communicating with each other

Patty Tobar.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading both your books and look forward to your future releases.

 Samantha Truscott

Yet another delightful romp - this time through Greece - you must be helping their tourism trade enormously!

Am dead keen to read your "Last Book About Italy" and hope that is isn’t! I love your style and the only addition you could possibly make to your book is a map of the places you visit!

Love the photo albums too!

 Adele Clarke
